Roi Et
Roi Et, and its vast plains of Thung Kula Rong Hai, is one of the regions of Isan, Thailand. Bounded to the northeast by Mukdahan, it covers an area of 8,299 km². Roi Et is located 512 km from Bangkok.
Formerly fallow, its vast plains of Thung Kula Rong Hai have been transformed into productive and fertile agricultural land. It is one of the regions of Thailand where high quality rice is produced. The capital of the province has experienced a relatively recent boom; its main attraction remains its large artificial lake in the middle of which is an island with a leisure center. Beyond the beaten track, Roi Et will offer you the opportunity to experience the life and culture of northeast Thailand.
How to get there
By plane
There is no direct train connection between Bangkok and Roi Et. You can take the train from Bangkok Hua Lamphong Station to Khon Kaen and then continue your journey by bus to Roi Et.
By bus
Buses depart daily from Mochit Bus Terminal 2 in Bangkok to Roi Et.
The trip takes about 8 hours.
By car
From Bangkok, take Highway No. 1 to Saraburi, then Highway No. 2 to Ban Phai and Highway No. 23 to Roi Et via Maha Sarakham. The total distance is 512 km.
