2. Sky Bar at Lebua Bangkok
Sky Bar at Lebua Bangkok stands at almost 250 metres above sea level, offering impressive views of the Thai capital. Located in Silom, this rooftop bar is quite easy to find – after a 10-minute walk of the Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain Station, look for a tall cream-coloured building with a gold dome on the roof. The bar is made even more famous after it was featured in Hollywood film, The Hangover Part II.
3. Rooftop Bar at Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit
A must-try is Sky Bar’s Hangovertini (green tea liquor, apple juice, Martini Rosso and rosemary honey). There are plenty of other original cocktail choices, together with a good range of beers and wines. If you’re coming for a special occasion, it’s worth considering dinner at Sirocco, where you can enjoy dinner at one of the world’s highest rooftop restaurants.
It can get rather crowded and loud, especially on weekends. Staff usher you down the steps at an impressive speed. Once you are in the bar area, it can feel a bit claustrophobic due to the lack of seats. Most people come to Sky Bar to take photos of the sunset and Bangkok skyline.
Octave Rooftop and Lounge is one of the first rooftop bars on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road. It’s also more than a place for watching the sunset or having a romantic meal. No rooftop bar in the city has a 360-degree view of Bangkok that matches this, and the top floor of this 3-level venue is one of the highest spots in the city for a party.
Starting on the 45th floor of the Marriot Hotel Sukhumvit, a 3-minute walk from Thong Lo BTS Skytrain Station, Octave Rooftop Bar and Lounge is slightly off the main tourist trail, meaning that it’s usually easy to grab a seat at one of Octave’s tables with a view.
Octave Rooftop Bar highlights
Unlike many rooftop bars in Bangkok, which often only have standing spaces, Octave boasts an impressive selection of seating with uninterrupted views of the city. In fact, on every floor, there’s nothing but a reinforced sheet of glass between you and the vista. The overall effect is pretty impressive.
The 1st level has a definite lounge feel to it, very laidback and ideal for dinner and groups. There’s a mix of nature and industry in the decor, with some antique Thai pottery, plant-covered walls, chunky wooden tables, modern bucket chairs, and neon blue lighting. A DJ plays chillout tunes and the staff are attentive and friendly.
Dining and drinking at Octave Rooftop
The food and drinks menu are each a page long, and it’s nice to find that Octave Rooftop doesn’t bombard you with so many choices you couldn’t pick. The cocktail selection was creative and included a Bangkok 57, a shot of saffron-infused vodka topped up with champagne. There’s also the pink-tinged Bloom Over the Roof, a mojito style blend with a hint of red fruit and the sweetness of elderflower cordial.
There’s a selection of local beers wines by the glass. Mocktails to enjoy include the sweet but refreshing mango and ginger Sunset. The food at Octave Rooftop Bar was mostly quick bites and light meals such as chicken wings with a side of sweet chilli dipping sauce, peppered calamari and foie gras terrine on toast.
The view from Octave Rooftop Bar
Head upstairs to find a balcony bar, which is an excellent spot for a bit of contemplation and admiring the view. This is a different view from many other Bangkok rooftops and is skyscraper heavy, stretching all the way to the cranes lining the dock area of the Chao Phraya River and straight along Sukhumvit, with the colourful lights of Baiyoke Tower twinkling in the distance.
Up another floor and you will find the pièce de resistance: a 360-degree rooftop with a circular bar, where the eclectic music ranges from Oasis/Green Day mash-ups to current chart-toppers.

This trendy Bangkok rooftop bar is one of the most popular in the city thanks to the stunning view and level of service that you would expect from a Sofitel So property. An elevator takes you to the bar’s dimmed lobby on the 29th floor, where a friendly staff dressed in oriental outfits lead you to a stairway which takes you to the bar terrace.

5. Three Sixty Lounge Bangkok
Three Sixty Lounge Bangkok is a stylish lounge and rooftop bar at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok Hotel. Though 32 floors might not be as high as some famous buildings in the city, what the Hilton lacks in stature, it compensates with an incredible view that surpasses almost all other rooftops bars in the Thai capital.
Three Sixty Lounge Bangkok highlights
The bar has 2 distinct areas: a large rectangular and open-air space covering the entire middle part of Millennium Hilton Bangkok, and an amazing 360-degree cupola balanced a floor above. It really looks as if a giant flying saucer has landed on the edge of the tower, and the views from this indoor panoramic bar are fantastic.
The sunset faces the back of Millennium Hilton Bangkok and doesn’t offer a great photo opportunity in itself, but the ever-changing colours of the sky are a fascinating spectacle. The wines and cocktails complement the mood and with a drinks list as long as your arm, there is plenty to pick from. If the price seems high, don’t worry as servings are generous, meaning you’ll only need 1 or 2 to enjoy an excellent evening.
Good to know about Three Sixty Lounge Bangkok
On certain days, you can treat your loved one to a luxury rooftop picnic, complete with a picnic hamper full of treats prepared with prime and imported meats and cold cuts. This is, of course, should be accompanied by champagne – excellent for surprising your partner in the evening. On special days like Valentine’s, it’s one of the best spots for admiring fireworks display on the river.
Don’t miss the cupola – it’s a very different atmosphere with dark tones, dimmed lights and soft carpets, but mostly it boasts an incredible view of the Chao Phraya River. The effect is accentuated by the angle given to the lounge’s very large panoramic windows. From there, life on the river is fascinating, with all kinds of ships and boats going up and down the stream, as well as tiny shuttles navigating their way from 1 riverbank to another.
Three Sixty Lounge Bangkok overlooks many buildings you can barely see from the road. Spot the fascinating old Bangrak Fire Station and Sino Portuguese buildings, the Assumption Cathedral of Bangkok, the beautiful First Siam Commercial Bank, and the well-hidden Embassy of Portugal. Take a peek from the top into the luxury lifestyle of the Mandarin Oriental and Sheraton hotels, which are built along the river.
