Top Things To Do On Beaches

Koh Lanta might be the ideal destination if you want to have a beach holiday that balances activity with rest. In addition to having beautiful beaches and a laid-back atmosphere, this Thai island is also popular for its abundance of adventurous activities. 1. Go Sea Kayaking and Explore Caves with Talabeng Kayaking

We’ve taken plenty of island-hopping and snorkeling excursions, so we decided to try something a little different. We booked a reservation for Talabeng Kayaking after reading glowing TripAdvisor reviews, so we dialed the number at the bottom of their unassuming website. We weren’t provided many details about what the day would include, so we didn’t have very high hopes. But we were quite pleased.

This cruise has a limit of 10 people and you won’t meet any other tour groups along the route, unlike the snorkeling boats, which carry roughly 30 people and visit locations with a dozen other boats.

Cost: 1,300 baht per person (about $42 USD)

2. Clean Up the Beach with Trash Hero

Participate in the Trash Hero organization’s weekly beach clean-ups. Even though we weren’t on Koh Lanta on a Sunday, when these clean-ups occur, we took part in one on Koh Lipe and had a wonderful time.

The amount of rubbish that washes up on some of the most picturesque beaches is shocking. Not only will it make you feel good to get rid of some of that junk, but you’ll also meet others who share your interests and visit some beaches you might have missed otherwise.

3. Explore a unique cave

On our journey, we have stopped at a lot of caverns, and occasionally they start to seem the same. When we visited Khao Mai Kaew Cave, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly delighted!

We almost compared this small cave to Antelope Canyon (without the light coming through the top). We are quite grateful that we made it to this cave because it was so unusual.

The entire tour lasts two hours: thirty minutes to hike to the cave, an hour to explore within, and thirty minutes to hike back.

5. Go beach hopping

One of the best ways to spend your time on Koh Lanta is to rent a motorbike and explore, stopping anytime you get the urge to check out another beach. It’s one of the reasons the island is considered one of the best islands in Thailand.

6. Go snorkeling or scuba diving

Koh Lanta is very close to some great diving and snorkeling spots, and there’s no shortage of tour companies on the island. Remember that you get what you pay for, and try to find companies that operate sustainably.

We heard great things about snorkeling around the island, and it is one of the most popular things to do on Koh Lanta. Since so many people want to experience swimming with the fishies, expect crowds. Many of the snorkeling boats hold 30 people and many companies go to the same sites.
