1. What is Chiang Mai Night Safari

Opened on February 6, 2006, the Night Safari of Chiang Mai is the second night safari in the world, after the Night Safari Singapore. About 10 km away from the city center, this gigantic park covers a total area of approximately 1.3 km2.

At first, Chiang Mai Night Safari is only open in the evening. However, nowadays, the park opens and provides many services both day and evening. 

This safari is home to more than a hundred species of animals. In addition, this spot has a wide range of thrilling and also exciting activities to offer, such as bathing elephants or feeding the giraffes, and rhinoceros,… Furthermore, you will have the chance to closely study the behaviors of many wild animals. The park also organizes many animal shows and entertaining activities for customers to ensure that visitors will have unforgettable memories with the animals.

2. What to do at Chiang Mai Night Safari

Jaguar Trail Zone

Jaguar Trail Zone is the main attraction of Chiang Mai Night Safari. It’s a large area around a lovely lake where visitors can wander and watch more than 50 animal species.

Here, you will find a lot of carnivorous animals such as lemurs, iguanas, crocodiles, monkeys, chimpanzees, moon bears, pumas, jaguars, flamingos and so many more. There are also some rare species like rare species star cat, fish tiger, fire tiger, and clouded leopard… Each species has its separate area and living environment. 

At the end of the path, visitors can find the Tiger’s world, where visitors can admire the tiger behind a glass.

 

Day and night Safari Tram Ride

As the name suggested, Day Safari Tram Ride only works in the daytime, from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm while the Night Safari Tram Ride starts at 5.30 pm to 8.00 pm.

Although their working time is a little different, the route of these two Trams is the same. The tram departs every 30 minutes so you don’t have to waste too much time waiting. The train will first enter the Savanna Safari Zone, the first zone to experience the herbivores such as giraffes, zebras, red kangaroos,… After a ride to sightsee all the gentle animals, the tram will get to the second area, the Predator Prowl Zone. The name said it all, here you will have the chance to stand face to face with the predators such as white tigers, lions, and spotted hyenas,…

Animal show

In Chiang Mai night Safari, we can also find some entertaining animal shows, the most typical are the Tiger show and the Night Predators Show. 

In the Tiger show, visitors can watch the tiger do amazing tricks, following the orders of the zoo keeper. They can jump through the rings, stand with their two feet, stand still on a small pilier,…

Meanwhile, the Hunters of the Night, or the Night Predators Show, will bring you a different atmosphere. This show will provide you with knowledge of how wild animals run, swim, follow their prey, and hunt. The animal in this show can be otters, lions, hyenas, tigers, and more.

 

How to get there

The Chiang Mai Night Safari is about 10 km from the city center. You can reach the spot by renting a car, using a taxi, or taking a minibus. 

Visitors are also recommended to use the shuttle bus. Its fee for a round trip is 100 baht per person, but it’s free if you book the ticket directly from the Chiang Mai Night Safari website. The shuttle bus only picks the customer up from 2 stations: 

Station 1: At 04:45 pm Imm Hotel (Tha Phae) to Chiang Mai Night Safari

Station 2: At 05:00 pm Night Bazaar to Chiang Mai Night Safari
