Surat Thani
Surat Thani
Although Surat Thani’s name translates to “City of the Good People,” it is also known as “the province of a thousand islands” due to the region’s abundance of offshore islands, many of which are part of the archipelago that includes the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, and the Mu Koh Ang Thong Marine National Park.
History
A significant proportion of tourists are mesmerized by Koh Samui’s pristine beaches and sapphire sea, which reflected the blue sky. The beaches for all-day swimming and tanning include Hat Chaweng and Hat Lamai. Hin Ta and Hin Yai, surprising-shaped rocks near Hat Lamai, are both naturally beautiful.
In addition to visiting stunning beaches, tourists may also go snorkeling or scuba diving to witness stunning coral reefs or visit the Khao Tha Phet Wildlife and Nature Education Station, which is located 210 meters above sea level and offers views of the city. Visitors can eat seafood at the eateries beside the Tapee River or at Aow Ban Don Tai while taking in a view of the ocean.
Khanom Jung, Phumriang shell, oyster, Khanom Chin (thin rice noodles) with spicy curry paste served in the southern style, Khanom Chindae, and biter beans with a distinctive flavor are just a few of the mouthwatering foods and sweets available in Surat Thani.
