A Masterpiece of Thai Craftsmanship

The Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya is an awe-inspiring structure that stands tall at 105 meters. This monument is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Pattaya and is renowned for being entirely carved out of teak wood. While it may seem like a hybrid between a temple and a palace, the Sanctuary of Truth was commissioned by a local business tycoon to appreciate philosophy, art, culture, and faith without being bound to any particular religion.

What sets the Sanctuary of Truth apart is the stunningly detailed carvings that adorn every surface of the structure, both inside and out. The intricate carvings of elephants, people, creatures, and deities from mythology are a reflection of Ancient Vision of Earth, Ancient Knowledge, and Eastern Philosophy. The carvings depict the fleeting nature and ceaseless toil of human existence as none of the wood is treated or protected from the elements. As a result, the older parts of the structure gradually succumb to the rigors of weather and climate and need to be replaced. The construction of the sanctuary started in 1981, and it is an on-going, never-ending task that continues to this day.

A Spiritual Haven for All

The Sanctuary of Truth is a spiritual haven that transcends all religions and beliefs. It is a testament to the goodness drawn from religion, philosophy, and art, paying tribute to the seven creators that man cannot exist without – Heaven, Earth, Father, Mother, Moon, Sun, and Stars. The carvings and sculptures deeply embedded in the structure have elements of ancient Buddhist, Hindu, Brahman, and other spiritual and philosophical beliefs, making it an enriching experience for all visitors.

This is a must-see attraction in Pattaya. The location does not disappoint and lives up to expectations if you listen and use the free tour guide. It is a wooden marvel constructed entirely of carved wood with no nails.
The location also brings you closer to spirituality and awakens you to the importance of future coexistence and harmony.
There are additional attractions such as an elephant ride, motor boats, and rowing boats that would be ideal for young children.
