How do I cross from Thailand to Laos?

The most common route in our itineraries is the Chiang Khong–Huay Xai border on the Mekong, after Chiang Rai. From there you continue to Luang Prabang. There are also direct flights from Bangkok.

How many days should I spend in Luang Prabang?

At least two or three days: temples, the night market, the dawn alms-giving ceremony, Kuang Si waterfalls and the Pak Ou caves.

When is the best time to go?

November to February, with dry weather and pleasant temperatures in northern Thailand and Laos. March and April are very hot; from June to October it often rains.

Do I need a visa for Laos?

Many nationalities can get a visa on arrival or an e-visa, but the rules change: check the current requirements before you travel.
