Wat Klai Kangwon (Khao Saraphatdi Si Charoen Tham)
An ancient temple dating back to the Lop Buriera(9th-12th century), Wat Klai Kangwon was abandoned for some time but later underwent major restorations in 1967. Ruins of an ordination hall remain atop the hill. A replica of the Lord Buddha’s footprint and a panoramic view of the area are other highlights of the temple. The annual Tak Bat Devo ceremony, where food is offered to Buddhist monks, is held here.
The temple is located in Tambon Ban Chian, 48 kilometers from the provincial town of Chai Nat. To get there, proceed via Highway No. 3211 onto Hankha Intersection. Take a left turn for another 4 kilometers; the temple is on the right hand side. Turn right about 1.7 kilometers further and you will come across a concrete fence measuring 5,000 meters in length enclosing the temple. WatKlaiKangwon is open daily from 8.00 am-5.00 pm.
