Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram

Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram, located in Samut Songkhram province, is a revered Buddhist temple that holds historical and cultural significance in Thailand.

History of Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram

Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram, situated near King Rama II Memorial Park, is affiliated with the Bang Chang family. Originally commissioned by the mother of Queen Amarintharamat, who married King Rama I, this exquisite temple served as her residence. According to belief, the Prang (spire) located on the premises marks the birthplace of King Rama II.

Over time, Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram underwent several renovations under the reigns of Kings Rama III, IV, and V. Presently, it holds the status of a second-class royal temple. The Ubosot (ordination hall) and other permanent structures within the temple mostly exhibit the early Rattanakosin style of art and architecture. Additionally, this sacred site serves as a memorial to King Rama II.
